This new find is urging me to stop being an old antisocial bugger…!

The dog loves the door!
Insomnia has its advantages!
Coolangatta - I think it might be missing its tourist trade.
After over 5 years of being in storage…this guy and his mate emerged from isolation today…battered and bruised. But still sounding good. Is it time to start recreating the vinyl collect that was so cruelly taken from us in the flood of 2007?
If anyone uses Drafts and Taskpaper, maybe this is of interest and you want to give it a quick beta test? Cheers. https://actions.getdrafts.com/a/14c
Yay! Spring Break! www.davesdowntime.co.uk
Beautiful to come back to The Coast and bake a little in the not-so-weak winter sun….after a couple of tiring days hiking around the city, playing tourist!
So I’m going up to Brisbane today…and now that the sun has made a return from it’s winter vacation, which has resulted in over two and half weeks of overcast and drizzly conditions…I need to select the right type of headgear.
But we are in the middle of a sporting en passe. Let me try to explain:
State of Origin (the massive annual rugby league series between Queensland and New South Wales) and tonight is the deciding game in a “best of three” competition. I have learned that this tournament is a big deal here in Australia, with loyalties being spill (sometimes across family lines), and great emphasis is placed on the state colours, being the Maroon (pronounced ma’rhone) of Queensland and the Blue of NSW.
England/Australia in the Semi Final of a Cricket World Cup…which precedes an Ashes series.
So the dilemma is a simple matter of hat colour. Do I don the deep burgendy of my adopted home state (whilst knocking about the state capital)….or do I represent national pride, put on lovely new blue England Cricket ODI hat.
Not that I expect any kind of recrimination from the Aussies….except from playful banter and gentle ribbing. There pretty good with stuff like that.
In any case….I’ve taken both hats with me.
And as the chants go:
COME ON ENGLAND!!!!
…And look who’s ready for Superhero Day tomorrow at kindy….fueled by cheese sandwiches!
Look at what just arrived…a few hours before the big game!
Apparently this is the cause of the pain, and the reasons I can’t train at the moment….but I can’t make head nor tail of it. It kinda looks like some shonky night-vision footage from the first Gulf War, rather than my right shoulder.
I just used the expression “hot to trot” in real non-piss-take conversation…..what has my life become? 🙊
Too late for this guy!
One of the worse things about living in Australia…is the amount of nylon that I have to wear!
Feeling decidedly unwell…but these two dragged me out for a bit of fresh air.
Don’t give into the Dark Side!
I am unsure if I like wine!
I like wine!
I like cheese!
Apple iPhone event…Tony Robbins UPW…Firewalking…Nintendo Direct…all in the space of 36 hours…I think I might drown in Kool-Aid
I’ve got an annoying thing going on where micro.blog is only letting me select a Facebook ‘page’ for cross-posting…not my main feed. Anyone got any pointers please?
I had a fantastic time last Sunday, which was Farther’s day here down under. I went diving for the first time in nearly five years. It’s almost criminal that I have been living on The Gold Coast for most of that time and haven’t found the time to get under the water.
Anyway, had a really nice Sunday with the crew at Kirra Dive (was well looked after and felt very safe). Special thanks to Eric for helping me get my certs back up to scratch (PADI Reactivate course done). Thanks to m' mum for the awesome birthday present. I now need to get back out there every once in a while, and maybe take a little peek at the Great Barrier Reef. Yay!
Somedays I love living and working is Australia…this little guy decided to show up in the tree outside the window next to my desk.
Tall boy gets his head checked…apparently it’s still attached!

A family Day out with Thomas at the North Ipswitch Railway Worksheds.
This “No Carb” beer is a novel concept…certainly helps with the diet…this only is particularly strong and tasty! #localbrewry
Earlier today….my 15 year old son, when asked to name The Beatles….said “George, Ringo….and….Gary”. WHAT?
That horrible sharp pain when you sit down in a nice café…ready for your fruit salad and nice coffee…and you realise you’ve still got a clothes peg in your back pocket. Ouch! #snappy
Dark modes are all well and good. But using a keyboard without the backlight outside in the middle of a winter’s night….leaves me squinting in the half moonlight.
After about seven months of broken promises, I finally managed to sort out m' Mum with some Aussie lamb souvlaki…but failed to take pictures. #photofail So instead here is a picture of her in a funny hat!
Sitting here watching this….I have an almost uncontrollable urge to drum my fingers on buttons. #obscure80sarcadereference
Here is the birthday girl….relaxing before a big day of spectating!
The small boy’s first haircut….before, during and after..very dapper.
Got to love spam subject lines sometimes.
First time on a 787 Dreamliner…I’m quite excited.
An excellent retrospective about probably one of the more important purchases I’ve made in my gaming life…anybody who know what The Orange Box is…should probably watch this! The Orange Box… 10 Years Later
How do you milk an Egg Fish?
The kind of thing that makes me want to get a turn table again. 🤓
Should I be offended that Dewsbury isn’t recognised by iOS spell check?
I wonder who would win in a fight between Roadrunner and Beaker from Muppets?…I think it would be a close contest, and I bet there would be a lot of “meeping”!
Look at this bad-girl who has taken up residency on our washing line. We are not really sure what make her more bad-ass….the black and yellow stripes, or that she only has 4 legs remaining. In any case….I hung my laundry somewhere else.
Why is it that the best things in my site bag, are not the cables and dongles…but are all little “pill box” shaped containers?
I had nice surprise when I got home for a pretty nasty day today. Not only had the Tall Boy (the pet name for our eldest), bought the next instalment of one of my favourite iPad games, The Room: Old Sins by the excellent Fireproof Games…but he did it on HIS iTunes account, using HIS OWN debit card…and it appeared in OUR Family Sharing purchases. I didn’t have to folk out for it at all. Bring on the spending power of the younger generation. Thanks Son. x.
BTW - Nice picture!
Arrrgggg! Calamity! They’ve gone and discontinued my favourite breakfast cereal! (apologies…three exclamation points in a row…but this could be considered an minor emergency). I don’t think you can get Shreddies (or their equivalent) anywhere in Australia anymore. Boo!
As a bit of a thought-experiment, I connected these…to see which one would “win”. Any guesses?
When you get something wrong….that you should be really good at…make you feel like a right nappy head!
Back after nearly a week of downtime. I’ve had issue with publishing images for this feed. One of the main problems of indepandant blogging, is not having a multi-billion dollar tech giant to bitch to/about…when shit goes wrong!
Is he going to show himself this time?
Small isn’t it?
Clare‘s attempts to convince me that this branch of Breadtop had closed have failed. #dietruined
Why is it when you start a diet, all the nice things come out of the back fo the cupboard to haunt you? New Year…with it’s close proximity to Christmas…is a shit time to start looking to eat healthier!
With living so close to a different time zone, and in typical Aussie family friendly fashion where the kids get early events as well….We were able to get out to a new years celebration….
…and Arlo was able to get scared by the fireworks.
A very tasty part of a last weekend of decadence…before the big healthy living change starts in the new year…which is tomorrow/Monday…Yikes!
Looks like I’ve finally got most of the bits in place for micro.blog…took some doing, but finally got there.
Been waiting for this to come out for a bit of time now….and it looks like it has launched. So here is a test.
